Scouting - Learning Beyond the Classroom

Scouting is a global voluntary, non-political, value-based educational movement for young people that builds friendships, experiences, and imparts skills, knowledge and attitudes for life.

At Sikri Junior Academy, our Scout troop gives learners a structured, purpose-driven space to grow as individuals and as active citizens - complementing everything they learn inside the classroom with hands-on, real-world experiences.

  • Non-formal education that complements the core CBC curriculum
  • Open to all learners, voluntary and inclusive of all backgrounds
  • Aligned with the Kenya Scouts Association and World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM)
  • Badge-based progression that recognises achievement and growth

Four Pillars of Scouting

Our programme is built around four core areas that shape confident, capable, and compassionate young people.

Sikri Junior Academy

Character & Values

Scouts live by the Scout Law and Promise - developing honesty, respect, duty to others, and a commitment to the world around them.

Sikri Junior Academy

Outdoor & Survival Skills

From camp craft and orienteering to first aid and fire-making - practical skills that build self-reliance and resilience in the real world.

Sikri Junior Academy

Community Service

Scouts are taught to give back - through clean-up drives, charity projects, and active participation in their local communities in Oyugis.

Global Citizenship

As part of the worldwide Scout movement, our learners connect with a brotherhood and sisterhood spanning 170+ countries and 57 million members globally.

Leadership

Patrol leaders and senior scouts learn to guide, motivate, and take responsibility - skills that last a lifetime.

Integrity

The Scout Promise instils honesty, duty, and a moral compass that guides learners in every aspect of their lives.

Resilience

Outdoor challenges, camp expeditions, and badge tasks build grit, adaptability, and confidence under pressure.

Friendship

Scouting forges deep bonds across ages, backgrounds, and borders - building a sense of belonging that extends around the world.

A Code to Live By

The Scout Law is the foundation of everything a Scout does - a set of principles that shape character, guide decisions, and build active, ethical citizens.

01

Trustworthy

A Scout tells the truth and can always be relied upon to keep their word.

02

Loyal

A Scout is faithful to their family, friends, Scout leaders, and their country.

03

Helpful

A Scout willingly volunteers to help others without expecting anything in return.

04

Friendly & Courteous

A Scout is a friend to all and treats others with respect and kindness.

05

Kind

A Scout understands there is strength in kindness and cares for all living things.

06

Obedient

A Scout follows the rules of their family, school, and movement without resentment.

07

Cheerful

A Scout looks for the bright side of life and performs their duties with a smile.

08

Thrifty

A Scout works to pay their own way and helps others wherever possible.

09

Brave, Clean & Reverent

A Scout faces difficulty with courage, keeps mind and body strong, and respects the beliefs of others.

Scouting is Global

When a learner at Sikri Junior Academy earns their first badge, they join the largest youth movement on earth - a brotherhood and sisterhood that spans every continent, culture, and background. Scouting provides non-formal education that complements the core curriculum, shaping young people's futures as active citizens.

Scouting taught my daughter things no classroom could - how to lead, how to serve others, and how to stay calm when things don't go to plan. She came home from camp a different child.
